Retina Display Optimisation
With retina display devices becoming more readily available, with the likes of Apples new iPad, iPhone and Macbook Pro, more and more visitors will be viewing websites through these high pixel density displays.
Retina displays have a much higher pixel density than standard displays. To compensate, these devices double the size of any image to keep the image at the same size as it would appear on a standard display. This means that an image that looks perfectly fine on a standard display, will look soft and pixelated on a retina display.
Retina optimisation allows images to be loaded at the correct size for different display types. Loading larger images than necessary will cause pages to load slower, and keep your visitors waiting. By using retina optimisation techniques, images specifically for the device are created and loaded on the server, allowing images to display pixel perfect on any display, whilst ensuring that no extra loading time is created.
